Who can join?

There are no minimum or maximum age limits but our current insurers require drivers over 70 to obtain annually a Doctor's note to state that they are fit to drive. This means young drivers who can’t afford to insure their own car now have access to transport, perhaps for the first time. You have to have held a full UK driving license for a minimum of 24 months and have no more than three accidents in the last four years. You must also have no more than one conviction. Which ones are allowed and all the other small print, including matters relating to disability, can be found by clicking HERE

Drivers younger than 21 and those holding EU and indeed other licenses will normally be acceptable too but these drivers may have to accept some additional conditions such as a higher insurance excess.

How to join

In summary, you will need to registerby downloading the application form, print out your completed online application form and bring it, together with your driving licence and National Insurance number or Counterpart printed off of the DVLA website www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence to the Parish Council office. If, for any reason, this isn't possible for you, just bring your licence to the office and we can do the whole process there.

The full procedure is quite simple:

1. Click on this ‘Register’ tab and then complete the
on-line application form (Don't worry if it won't allow you to put in exactly what you want - you can
hand-amend the form after you've printed it should you need to.)
Take a  moment to carefully read the Terms & Conditions  – you will be asked to sign to indicate that
    you have done this.

2. When you have completed the application form, print off a paper copy and SIGN it.

3. Bring this, together with your driving licence (plastic ID card or just the paper if you have the old style
licence). We will also need your counterpart print out from the
DVLA or bring your National Insurance Number in with you and we can do this for you.
Please also bring a current utility bill and your joining fee to the
Parish Council Office in the Community Centre in Hartfield Road (tel: 01342 822661).
This is open 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday.
You can pay for your membership fee by cash or cheque.
Please make cheques payable to ‘Forest Row Parish Council’.

4. Once your application has been accepted you will receive an email from shlott.com asking you to set your password for our booking system, please click on the link on the email and follow the instructions.
